I am originally from Sumter, South Carolina, however Sweet Union County has been an easy place for me to call home since 2002.

My sixteen years of radio experience in Sumter was invaluable, however, nothing can compare to WIXE. It’s so exciting to be a part of the fastest growing radio station in the Carolinas. My passion for radio has turned into a unique experience working with people that are a reflection of “what life is all about”…

We all come to work at WIXE every day with the attitude that goes like the saying “If you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”. We all work very hard here at WIXE. We work to bring you entertaining and informative programming and we work for our advertisers to help them achieve optimum results. Our sales staff is knowledgeable in understanding business problems and getting those problems solved through advertising to the masses of people.

When I’m not at WIXE, I’m enjoying varied outdoor activities and I really love to cook. My family down in South Carolina means a lot to me and many weekends you’ll find me at the beach, or on Lake Marion or in Charleston. Throughout the past fifteen years scuba diving has been an adventure and one that I will continue to pursue. I have two sons, Kent who lives in Myrtle Beach and Joel attending USC, Columbia. I attend First Presbyterian Church in Monroe.

Betty Rogers- Community Events Coordinator 

Hello, I'm Betty Rogers, formerly Betty Jean Baucom from Burnsville, Betty Carpenter from Peachland and Betty Love from Stanfield. I was married to Austin Carpenter of peachland for 40 yrs and Clyde Love of Stanfield for 10 years.  Both are deceased.

I have 3 sons, Ross, Lynn and Randy Carpenter.  I am the proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren, Leann Olive of Apex, Brett Carpenter and Brandi Carpenter of Peachland and the late Hilary Carpenter.  I have 2 great grandchildren, Eliza and Lydia Olive of Apex.  I also have 5 step children and 8 step grandchildren.

I was a supervisor at Abbey Mfg & Wadesboro Mfg in Wadesboro for 30 years.  I was also in sales. I started at WIXE in December of 2003. With my experience and background in sales they gave me the opportunity to sell Public Service Packages to local businesses for special events. Remember my name, because I may by calling you soon!

  I am married to "WIXE DJ" Bob Rogers. We live in Stanfield and we enjoy gospel and bluegrass concerts and visiting with friends and family. We both love the Lord and enjoy spending time in His house each week.

Bob Rogers-Gospel Music Director/Advertising Sales Representative

Hi, I'm Bob Rogers. I was born in Wadesboro, in Anson County. I consider myself to be a "hometown boy". I'm a US Army veteran and have 3 wonderful children. Since 1961, I have spent my time as a Radio Personaility and have learned much about the business and am glad I can still provide something that you all love.

I play Classic Country, Bluegrass and Southern Gospel each week. I have won 4 Southern Gospel Awards, was nominated twice in the Singing News National Fan Awards as Top 10 Southern Gospel DJ. The Tarheels, Panthers and NASCAR Racing are my passion and I spend my time with my wife Betty, family and friends. I enjoy traveling, bluegrass and gospel concerts. J.J. Roper-Sports Director/Account Executive

 

Hi, I’m J.J. Roper and I am the Sports Director at WIXE. I am the play-by-play man for Union County Sports and host of the WIXE Scoreboard Show on Saturday mornings from 9-11 AM on the Mighty 1190. I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and recently moved to Union County from Leitchfield, Kentucky. I am closer to my family now with my parents living in Lexington, North Carolina. I have had a passion for sports my entire life and that passion has led to a career in sports radio. I hold a degree in Sports Broadcasting from the University of Alabama and have been a massive supporter of the Crimson Tide my entire life. When I’m not at WIXE, I enjoy attending my local congregation, playing golf, working out, and walking my dog Bama.

I am very excited to be working in Union County, and to have the opportunity to cover the sporting events for nine different high schools. The young athletes of Union County need our support, and it is WIXE’s goal to fully support each school at whatever the cost. Hey folks……I’m Dave Lewis your afternoon guy. I am brand spankin’ new to this side of radio but am having some great fun. I was born in Ohio, but have been the great North State since 1989. I got here via the US Army at Ft. Bragg (Airborne baby). I am a veteran of the Gulf War and am very proud of my time in the service. I am a single father of 2 great kids and they are my reason for being. I hope to bring a new feel to the afternoons with plenty of giveaways, music and some other stuff to make you smile. Hello ...I am Shane Greene...morning guy...program director...radio ad salesman...janitor...and whatever else needs to be done..It aint the money...it aint the fame and glory...its people that keep me coming to this place every morning.
I am happily married to my lovely wife Amanda and believe with all my heart that the good Lord will lead us through anything that may come up. I try my best to just be myself, whether on the air or not. I think people appreciate that in a person as well as a personality. I grew up at the state line...the real state line....between Mt. Pisgah Church and the store....and love to share my stories. I have a very deep rooted respect for my elders and try to listen more than I talk. This is my very first job in radio and hopefully will be my last.
In closing, just in case you wondered...it isn't the money or the fame or the thrill that gets me up at 5:15 in the morning...it is you...the listeners and the advertisers...and of course my wife tells me I have too. I am very fortunate to have a boss who I consider one of my best friends...that means alot. I LOVE helping out the little guys with advertising. It makes me feel good to see your business grow!

Hi, my name is Stacey Polk.

Micah Rorie-Part-Time Announcer

I’m Micah Rorie, the Saturday morning on- air personality. I started here at WIXE in 2004 and it’s definitely been an experience. I was born here in NC and raised in between the NC/SC state lines. I graduated from Forest Hills High in 2004, and since then all of my time has been here at WIXE and at H&G Cycle working with my father.

My spare time is usually occupied by me playing guitar/bass or drums. Also, I love custom choppers, hanging with friends and working out. Big thanks to everybody at the station for helping me learn the ropes and taking me in. Really BIG thanks to Shane for helping a metal fan like me learn some country. We’ll see you on the air!

Jack London-Announcer/Account Executive

Hey everyone! My name is Jack London and I do a lot of things here at WIXE.  You may hear me filling in for someone's show, broadcasting a game or doing commercials.  As far as my personal life goes, I'm a huge sports fan! I was born in Arizona, so I'm a big Arizona Cardinals supporter (sorry Panthers fans!), as well as a Arizona Diamondbacks and a big Phoenix Suns fan. Other than that, I enjoy blogging, music (besides country, I'm a big Christian Rock fan), and checking my Facebook/Twitter accounts. Speaking of which, add me as a friend on Facebook or Twitter! What's going on everybody….. my name is Chris Rogers.

Yeah now that I've had my pic on here a few months maybe now I can tell you all a little bit about myself.

I come from a BIG family. I have three brothers, two sisters, and got to be the most awesome nieces and nephews. They keep me on my toes. I graduated from Monroe High School in 2000 where I played football and baseball. I was on the team that beat Forest Hills 15-12 in front of 10,000+ fans at Walter Bickett Stadium back in 1999 for the Rocky River Conference Title.

Now when I am not here at WIXE broadcasting football games for Union County I am the Redhawks' PA announcer for my 10th season. Anyways I have been here at WIXE since May of 2005 and still going strong......thanks Shane! Guess them biscuits paid off huh?

But you can hear me almost every Friday and Saturday bringing you football or even the award-winning Swap Shop so I look forward to talking to you all and maybe even bumping into you when I'm out and about! I appreciate all the support!
